The software layer is consolidating faster than the field

Registration and payments platforms have become the system of record for youth sports. What that means for everyone building on top of them.

Registration, scheduling, and payments were once three separate purchases. They are now a single system of record, and the platforms holding that record are acquiring adjacent tooling at pace.

Embedded payments changed the math. Once a platform is processing the season fee, the revenue per club rises well beyond what a seat-based SaaS price could support, and retention follows the money.

For investors, the implication is that pure point solutions face a shrinking window. Differentiation now sits in data — recruiting profiles, officiating supply, performance history — rather than in workflow.

We expect the next twelve months to produce at least two platform-scale combinations, and a longer tail of tuck-ins priced against processing volume rather than ARR.
